I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2004 with a BA in genetics. Following undergraduate I entered the Genetics and Molecular Biology program at Emory University. In the lab I study changes in the chromatin architecture that accompany the silencing of a model tumor suppressor gene (TMS1) in breast cancer. I have been focusing on the role nucleosome positioning plays in maintaining an unmethylated CpG island. Outside of the lab I am interested in science education. At Emory I have participated in the PRISM program which brings graduate students into the K-12 science classroom. Currently, I am serving as a teacher-scholar for the ORDER program at Emory.
